History
On 14 March 1931 Nic Sosef Sr., at the age of fifteen, founded what is now Nic.Sosef . At that time, the company was involved in the trading of paint, oil, putty, brushes and glass. Delivery took place using a carrier bicycle. Over the years, the business expanded and Nic.Sosef became an established name in the Westland region.
In 1956, Nic.Sosef celebrated its 25th birthday with the 11 employees working at that time. Sosef continued to grow and expand.
In 1982, the premises in Honselersdijk had a festive opening, coinciding with the transfer of management from Nic Sosef Sr. to Nic Sosef Jr.
At the end of the ’90s it was apparent that the technology department had outgrown itself and it was necessary to expand. A new technology building was put up on 14,000 m2 next to the existing building. Due to intensified environmental requirements, a range of safety modifications were implemented immediately throughout the company, and a logistical centre was also built.
Nic.Sosef did not only expand on its own site, but also nationally.
During the 75-year existence of Sosef, Nic Sosef Jr. stepped back into early semi-retirement, and Bart Sosef succeeded him as general manager on 14 March 2006.
Nowadays, Nic.Sosef B.V. has a customer base of around 4000 horticultural companies at home and abroad. Around 210 employees work on a daily basis.
